HYPEBEAST (http://hypebeast.com/) is a web-magazine founded in 2005 by Kevin Ma. The blog contents primarily focus on streetwear, urban art and street culture.
Please take a look at the submissions to HYPEBEAST’s recent T-shirt design contest. Please critique a cheffing cöok‘s submission, “The Global Hypebeast Tribe”, at the following URL:

Feel free to leave comments, critique and feedback on the contest site, this blog site, our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/chookclothingco) or even in a PM because we are always striving to grow and improve.
Also don’t forget to scroll through and enjoy the other submissions! Here are some of my favourites:

chöok’s comments: Simple monochrome headshot print of a beast with tangled hair/fur that shapes the design neatly when viewed from a distance. Overall symmetry with subtle non-symmetrical features such as the beast’s fangs make for a smooth composition in its entirety. Curious accessories like the hat and double glasses complete the design, add a quirky feel to it, and prompt viewers to picture a 4-eyed beast.

chöok’s comments: Great combination of colour and the arrangement of butterfly shapes leaves balanced distributions of empty regions in the design. The design plays into the shape of the t shirt and would create a fitting blend into the wearer’s shoulders, arms and neck.

chöok’s comments: Instant identification of the “beast” (tiger) while the bright red “HYPEBEAST” splash creates a vivid contrast with the otherwise monochrome print. This draws attention to the beast’s eye region, creating mystery and interest. The tiger’s sweater sets up an urban look and the darker regions at the bottom of the shirt complete the design with good balance in shade.
